Blogger Adam Khamchiev, who criticized officials, beaten up in Ingushetia

Adam Khamchiev, a blogger, who criticized officials, was hospitalized after several unidentified men attacked and beat him in Malgobek.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 2, 2022, the mother of Adam Khamchiev, a blogger from Ingushetia, stated that he had received threats from people in power. This was the result of Khamchiev's voicing problems at the perinatal centre, Magomed Khazbiev, the chairman of the Ingush branch of the "Civil Initiative" Party, has explained.

On January 23, 2022, it became known that the newborn child of an Ingush woman had died at the perinatal centre. The woman's relatives believed that the newborn's death was caused by the staff's negligence and demanded an investigation. Khamchiev said that the above party branch had received more than 70 complaints about the poor quality of medical services, which led to serious health problems.

Now, unidentified persons have beaten Adam Khamchiev up, took him out in a car, and then dropped him out. The blogger has been hospitalized, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.

The "Sapa Kavkaz" Telegram channel has added that Khamchiev was attacked by five men; after beating him up, they fired into the air several times.

On January 27, 2022, members of the "Civil Initiative" Party informed, by citing eyewitnesses, about kidnapping of Khamchiev. On the same day, it became known that the blogger was in police custody on suspicion of possessing a traumatic pistol converted into a combat one and ammunition to it. His party colleagues then associated Khamchiev's persecution with his social activeness.
