PO demands to reconsider case of Khussein Karagulov, KBR scientist

The Prosecutor's Office (PO) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has appealed to the republic's Supreme Court (SC) against the decision of the Nalchik Court, which acquitted the scientist Khussein Karagulov. The PO has demanded to reconsider the case on the production of medicines by Karagulov without a license.

On November 21, 2022, it became known that the Nalchik court had acquitted Khussein Karagulov, who was accused of making medicines without a license.

The prosecutor has stated that he treats the court's decision as unjustified, since Karagulov produced drugs not from mud, but from an extract, and that he had no license to do so; therefore the PO has demanded to return the case for a new trial, "Newstracker.ru" has reported.

Should the PO's demand be satisfied, this will be the third trial of the scientist within the same case.

The website of the KBR's SC asserts that Karagulov is charged with "Illegal medical or pharmaceutical activity" (it provides for up to three years in prison, – note of the "Caucasian Knot").

On July 30, 2021, Karagulov stated that his "Bivitex" Company produced drugs from the therapeutic mud of Lake Tambukan exclusively for scientific purposes.
