Sum of fines for discrediting army in Kuban exceeds 7 million roubles

In 2022, the courts of Kuban (the Krasnodar Territory) received 254 administrative cases under the article on discrediting Russian militaries; the overall amount of imposed fines has exceeded 7 million roubles; it follows from the report of the territorial judicial department.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 4, 2022, administrative liability was introduced for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces, after which residents of Russia began to be prosecuted under this article. By October 19, 2022, Russian courts received about 4800 cases under this article. The Krasnodar Territory is in the top ten Russian regions, where most such cases were opened.

Since March 2022, a total of 254 cases have been opened in the territory under the article on discrediting the Russian Army; the total amount of imposed fines made 7.26 million roubles, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project writes. Fourteen cases were dropped; and there were three foreigners and stateless persons among those fined.

The report also states that during the year the Kuban courts received 163 cases on violating the procedure for holding public events. In 71 cases, the courts imposed fines; and 39 people were arrested; 27 cases were returned to the police due to procedural violations.

Other 38 cases concerned the dissemination of extremist materials. One case was dismissed; in two cases, arrests were imposed; and in the rest of them, defendants were fined. Also in 2022, courts received nine criminal cases under extremist articles.

Last year, five cases were opened in the territory under the article on illegal missionary activity; two persons were fined. Another case was brought to court about calls to violate the Russia's territorial integrity and to impose sanctions against Russia.
