Activist from Nalchik arrested after pacifist picket

Pavel Ulibegov was detained at a pacifist picket in the city of Nalchik and arrested for five days on charges of disobeying the police. Also, a protocol was drawn up against the activist for discrediting the Russian Army.

On March 8, Ulibegov went to a picket near the parliament building of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) with a pacifist poster. Protocols were drawn up against him on discrediting the Russian Army and disobeying the police. Under the second protocol, the court has arrested him, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* has informed, citing Pavel's sister.

The article providing for citizens fined of up to 50,000 roubles for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces has been in force since March 4, 2022. Under this article, participants in pacifist actions and authors of publications in social networks are held accountable. A repeated violation of the article within a year threatens with criminal prosecution.
