Kadyrov helps Chechen woman get her daughters enrolled into Moscow gymnasium

A female native of Chechnya complained to Ramzan Kadyrov about the refusal of a Moscow gymnasium to enrol her daughters, since they wear hijabs. After the intervention of the Chechen authorities, the girls were enrolled into the desired school, announced Mansur Soltaev, Ombudsman of Chechnya.

Mansur Soltaev reported that, on behalf of the leader of Chechnya, he was involved in dealing with an appeal from a female native of the republic, who addressed Ramzan Kadyrov after a gymnasium in Moscow refused to accept her daughters for study.

“The woman suffers from a serious illness, and she has to undergo medical treatment in Moscow for a long time. She tried to temporarily enrol her daughters into a gymnasium closer to her new place of residence and the hospital, but was refused due to the fact that the girls wear hijabs. The school administration stated that they could not allow ‘popularization of Islam’ in the gymnasium,” Mansur Soltaev wrote.

According to the Ombudsman of Chechnya, appeals were filed to a number of public institutions, after which the girls were admitted to the gymnasium.

“Such incidents take place mostly due to the ignorance of managers who know nothing about the religion of Islam or whose knowledge is very superficial. That is why they feel dislike, fear, or hostility towards Muslims,” Mansur Soltaev emphasized in his Telegram channel.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that in January, five female students, including natives of Dagestan and Chechnya, were expelled from a medical college in Novocherkassk for wearing hijabs. Ramzan Kadyrov called the hijab ban a manifestation of fascism and threatened to “take actions” for the disrespect for Muslim customs. The female students were allowed to get reinstatement in the medical college, but they expressed their desire to transfer to other educational institutions.
