Former FSB officer complains about threats to his relatives in Dagestan

The law enforcement bodies are putting pressure on relatives of Emran Navruzbekov, a former FSB officer from Dagestan, who has requested political asylum in Europe.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in his interview to the human rights project “Gulagu.Net”, Emran Navruzbekov, who left Russia, stated that FSB officers were involved in terror acts and staged special operations in Dagestan. Emran Navruzbekov requested political asylum in Europe, and on December 31, he said that after the interview had been published, relatives of his wife and mother were detained in Dagestan.

According to Emran Navruzbekov, the pressure on his relatives who remained in Dagestan continues. So, according to the former FSB officer, the other day, one of the law enforcers visited the mother of his wife. “Without any court order, the policeman asked the mother of my wife where I and her daughter were, took her mobile phone and looked through records and calls in it,” the “Kavkaz.Realii”* quoted Emran Navruzbekov as saying. According to him, earlier, another policeman “took the wife’s mother to Magaramkent, where she was questioned.”

The former FSB officer also said that the law enforcers contacted him directly. He suggests that they “want to turn the situation around” as if he were with militants in Syria.

Emran Navruzbekov notes that he asked the law enforcers “to leave the relatives in peace” and emphasized that there are “a lot of influential people” among his relatives.
