After quitting SIZO in Adygea, activist Taganov needs doctors' care

After Roman Taganov has served his term at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) located near Maykop, the capital of Adygea, his health became worse, and he needs medical treatment, said his wife. His advocate has confirmed his client's poor health.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Taganov was released from the SIZO on October 13, a week after the court ruling on his conditional sentence came into force.

On October 6, the Supreme Court (SC) of Adygea upheld Taganov's sentence. It means that his custody should be stopped, and he must be released from the SIZO, his advocate, Felix Vertegel, has explained. However, on October 9, it turned out that Taganov was still in custody.

Now, after the stay at the SIZO, he needs doctors' care, his wife has informed.

"He told about inhuman conditions; there were more people in the cell than prescribed by standards," the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project quoted her as saying.

Let us remind you that on July 29, Roman Taganov was sentenced to three years of conditional imprisonment on charges of using non-dangerous violence against law enforcers. On October 3, the court ruled to transfer him from the prescribed house arrest to the SIZO at the request of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) under the pretext that his tracking bracelet had operated (meaning that he had violated the rules of house arrest). However, his wife stated that the bracelet worked erroneously when Taganov was at home.

On March 19, it became known that Taganov had been placed under house arrest. According to his version, he resisted the detention, as law enforcers were in civilian clothes and did not introduce themselves. He also said that after he was placed under house arrest, he lost the opportunity to work, and his family with two small children was on the verge of survival.
