Mobilization limits possibility of dismissal for contractors

After the announcement of partial mobilization, militaries will not be able to terminate their contract until its expiration date, but it is not known for how long the mobilization has been announced. The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that it is planned to call up 300,000 reservists within the partial mobilization announced by the President of Russia. According to the explanations of human rights defender Andrei Kurochkin, not all citizens of Russia are subject to partial mobilization. There are people who are obliged to appear at military commissariats on their own, without waiting for a call: these are reservists who have mobilization orders, lawyer Pavel Chikov recalls.

Contractors will not be able to leave the armed forces due to the expiration of their contracts, including those who signed them before the decree on the partial mobilization, notes Sergey Krivenko, the head of the “Citizen. Army. Law”* human rights group. “By his decree, President Putin left all the militaries under the contract to serve for who knows how long,” Sergey Krivenko emphasized.

According to him, the mobilization concerns everyone who is in the reserve, that is, tens of millions, mostly men. “In fact, almost any man from 18 to 50 years old can be limited in the right to travel abroad,” the human rights defender said.

Sergey Krivenko has also noted that the presidential decree does not specify who exactly will be mobilized and for how long.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that protest actions against the partial mobilization were held in a number of regions of Russia. It is known about the detention of at least eight residents of Volgograd and 23 residents of Krasnodar.
