Amina Gerikhanova faces threats from Romanian police

Amina Gerikhanova, a native of Chechnya, complained about the threats of the Romanian police to extradite her to Russia, contrary to the recommendations of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). This was reported by the Chechen Vayfond human rights association, based in Sweden.

The Caucasian Knot has reported that on September 8, the Romanian police did not let Amina Gerikhanova be at large after her release from custody and decided to send her to a migration prison for 30 days.

On March 13, 36-year-old Amina Gerikhanova was detained together with her child at the Romanian border while trying to leave Ukraine, where she lived after leaving Chechnya about five years ago. Amina Gerikhanova is wanted by Interpol at the request of Russia, where the woman is accused of participating in the fighting in Syria. Amina Gerikhanova will not be able to leave Romania as the authorities still want her extradition to Russia, the Chechen Vayfond human rights association reports.

Amina Gerikhanova has complained about the threats from the Romanian police that she will inevitably face a path straight to Russia, the Vayfond human rights association reports.

We will not let you take even one free step in Romania, as you are a threat to national security, the Vayfond human rights association quotes a Romanian policeman as saying.

Let us remind you that on August 18, the Vayfond reported that with the help of volunteers, housing was found for Amina Gerikhanova.

Earlier, on August 6, it became known that members of the Chechen Diaspora held a protest action in front of the Romanian consulate in Edinburgh, urging the EU authorities not to extradite Amina Gerikhanova to Russia.
