Resident of Astrakhan Region convicted of helping terrorist organization

The court has sentenced a resident of the Astrakhan Region to nine years in colony after finding him guilty of supporting the "Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham"* terrorist organization.

According to investigators, since August 2020, to April 25, 2021, Elmar Muradzade provided help to the above terrorist organization banned in Russia. He also made five money transfers in the total amount of 6500 roubles for the "Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham"*, the joint press service of the courts of the Rostov Region has reported.

*By the decision of the Russia's Supreme Court (SC), the organization was recognized as a terrorist organization; and its activities were prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation.
