Azerbaijani MoD announces a shelling attack on border with Armenia

Today, the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the Kelbadjar District have been shelled from large-calibre weapons, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reports. The information about a shelling attack on the positions of the Azerbaijani army does not correspond to reality, the Armenia reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan periodically exchange accusations of shelling attacks. So, on June 21, the MoD of Azerbaijan announced that the Armenian troops shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the Kelbadjar and Lachin Districts, after which the Azerbaijani militaries opened fire in return. The Ministry of Defence of Armenia denied the information.

“On the night of July 4, from their positions in the direction of the settlement of Zarkend in the Basarkechar District (Vardenis District, – note of the “Caucasian Knot), units of the Armenian Armed Forces used large-calibre weapons and subjected to intensive shelling the positions of our army stationed in the direction of the settlement of Demirchidam in the Kelbadjar District,” the publication “Report” quoted the MoD of Azerbaijan as announcing. The units of the Azerbaijani army took adequate response measures, the Azerbaijani MoD announced.

The message spread by the MoD of Azerbaijan reporting that on the night of July 3-4, units of the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire in the direction of Azerbaijani positions does not correspond to reality, the “News.Am” reported with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Armenia.
