In Makhachkala, police disrupt picket held by Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s colleague

Magdi Kamalov, a founder of the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft), had to interrupt his solo picket in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev at a request of a policeman and follow him to a police department. This was reported by Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the “Chernovik”.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the arrested journalist of the “Chernovik”, including Magdi Kamalov, regularly hold solo pickets in Makhachkala in support of their arrested colleague.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the “Ansar” charity foundation, and Kemal Tambiev were accused of financing terrorism. Abdulmumin Gadjiev states he is not guilty, while his colleagues consider the persecution of the journalist to be pressure on him.

Today, a policeman has “strongly demanded” from Magdi Kamalov, a founder of the “Chernovik”, who went out on a solo picket, to go with him to the Interior Division for Leninsky District of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Chernovik”, has informed the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to Magomed Magomedov, today, he himself has held the first solo picket demanding the release of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, and later, he has been replaced by Magdi Kamalov, who was holding a poster reading: “Freedom to Journalism”.

During the picket, a policeman has approached Magdi Kamalov and said that the picketer looked like a wanted man. Magdi Kamalov has obeyed the demand to go to the police department.
