Data on tax problems of Firdaws Fashion House sparks scepticism in Grozny residents

The temporary suspension of the "Firdaws" is due to a minor error in paying taxes, Aishat Kadyrova, the head of the fashion house and the daughter of the head of Chechnya, has explained. The clothes designed by the "Firdaws" are very expensive and have become a status symbol in Chechnya; therefore, reports on the "Firdaws" tax problems looks unbelievable, Grozny townspeople have noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov's daughter, Aishat Kadyrova, heads the Firdaws Fashion House since 2016.

On January 22, in its Instagram page, the "Firdaws" announced the suspension of all the stores for an indefinite period. A number of publications reported that the tax office opened enforcement proceedings against the house for non-payment of due taxes and fees.

Aishat Kadyrova has refuted the rumours that her "Firdaws" was suspended due to tax problems. "The 'Firdaws' has failed to pay 1638.04 roubles of taxes on time due to a mistake made by the chief accountant. As soon as the mistake was discovered, the debt was immediately repaid. The house's accounts were not blocked. It has no debts," Ms Kadyrova wrote on January 29 in her Instagram page.

No problems have been ever noticed at the "Firdaws" Fashion House; so, the words of Ramzan Kadyrov's daughter look credible. The products of the "Firdaws" are expensive, said Aset, a student at Chechen State University (CSU). "In the region, people who put on these clothes emphasize their social status in this way; that they are of high income, since the clothes are very expensive, and only rich people can afford them," she told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Wearing clothes by the "Firdaws" demonstrates status and financial security, said Kheda, a resident of Grozny, adding that many female officials buy "Firdaws" items to show Ramzan Kadyrov and his retinue that they are part of his team.
