Resident of Ingushetia fined for justifying terrorism

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don has sentenced Ruslan Ozdoev, a resident of Ingushetia, to a fine of 250,000 roubles, having found him guilty of publicly justifying terrorism.

Ruslan Ozdoev, a 27-year-old native and resident of the city of Nazran, was accused of publicly justifying terrorism. The sanction under this article provides for both a fine in the amount from 100,000 to 500,000 roubles, and imprisonment for the term from two to five years.

"It was established that in 2015 and 2016, the convict posted, in a public page of one of social networks, a video depicting the symbols of an international terrorist organization and a text file containing linguistic and psychological signs of justification of terrorist activities," the press service of the above Military Court has reported.

Ozdoev was found guilty and fined by 250,000 roubles. He was also deprived of the right to "engage in the activities related to the administration of websites" for a year.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on December 6, a court in Rostov-on-Don found Bek Khashtyrov, a resident of Ingushetia, guilty of trying to become a member of the "Islamic State"  (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”) and justifying terrorism. He was sentenced to six years of freedom deprivation.
