Blagodarny

Rayon (sector) centre in Stavropol kray (region), 150 km east of Stavropol. Located in Ciscaucasia, in the northern end of the Stavropol Upland, on the Mokraya Buyvola River (tributary of the Kuma). Terminal railway station in the branch (68 km) from the Stavropol - Elista line. Motor road junction (Svetlograd - Budyonnovsk, etc.). Population (1992 est.) 29.9 thousand (1979 est.) 22.8 thousand.

The city status was obtained in 1971.

Blagodarny has several enterprises of food-processing industry.
