Gagieva's husband accused of her murder sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment

The Sovietsky District Court of Vladikavkaz found Vadim Tekhov, a former husband of Regina Gagieva, guilty of her murder and sentenced him to 16 years of imprisonment.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September 2019, Regina Gagieva, a 22-year-old resident of Vladikavkaz, got stab wounds and died a week later in a hospital. According to investigators, her former husband Vadim Tekhov, a 32-year-old former policeman, who escaped from house arrest, attacked the woman out of jealousy.

The Sovietsky District Court of Vladikavkaz found Vadim Tekhov guilty of the murder of his former wife, as well as beatings, threats of murder, and an attempted murder, the "Krylya TV" reports today.

"The court (...) sentenced the defendant to 16 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony, followed by restriction of freedom for 1 year and 6 months," the Sovietsky District Court of Vladikavkaz reports on its official website.

The court also granted the civil claim lodged by Roksana Gagieva, a sister of the deceased woman, for compensation for moral damage in the amount of 3 million roubles, the "Sputnik Ossetia" reports today.

Let us remind you that after the death of Regina Gagieva, in North Ossetia, activists launched a movement against domestic violence and called it "Khotæ" ("Sisters" in the Ossetian language). One of the objectives of the project is to "destroy the stereotypical opinion of society about the justification of violence by cultural or traditional norms."
