Armenian authorities set payments to residents of Shurnukh and Vorotan

Residents of the villages of Shurnukh and Vorotan, whose houses are in the territory controlled by Azerbaijan, will receive a one-time assistance in the amount of 300,000 drams and monthly payments in the amount of 68,000 drams, reports Mesrop Arakelyan, Armenian Minister of Labour and Social Affairs. The government also announced the construction of new houses for those people.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 24, 2020, the authorities of Azerbaijan conducted the works to demarcate the border in the village of Shurnukh in the Syunik Region of Armenia and demanded to transfer a part of the village to the Azerbaijani side. The Armenian government approved a decree on providing assistance to the residents of the Shurnukh and Vorotan villages in the Syunik Region, who lost their houses after the territory of the region passed under the control of the Azerbaijani side, announced Mesrop Arakelyan, Armenian Minister of Labour and Social Affairs. "During this week already, the authorities are to launch a special programme. According to it, the citizens who lost their houses and who are to be provided with a new housing will receive assistance in the amount of 68,000 drams (about 130 US dollars) per month and 300,000 drams (about 580 US dollars) in the form of a one-time assistance," said Mesrop Arakelyan as quoted today by the "Arka.am".
