Villagers take part in rally of Adjarian opposition

In Batumi, about 20 residents of the village of Keda spent the night in front of the government building during an indefinite protest against the results of the parliamentary elections.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Batumi, a continuing rally of opposition supporters is taking place in front of the Adjarian government house. The participants of the rally are protesting against the results of the parliamentary elections.

On November 22, residents of neighbouring settlements arrived in Batumi to take part in a protest action held in front of the government house, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Levan Antadze, a member of the "United National Movement" (UNM) in Adjara.

In particular, at 8:30 p.m. on November 22, an hour and a half before the curfew, about 20 residents of the village of Keda arrived at the place of the protest action. They settled down for the night in two tents set up on Memed Abashidze Street between the buildings of the government house and the building of the Constitutional Court, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.

According to the arrived activists, they are ready to endure difficulties in order to achieve their political goals. "We have been living in an independent, democratic country for 30 years, and now we see that the parliament has actually turned into the Supreme Soviet of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU): that is, one party is in power. To prevent that, I am ready to attend rallies," Merab Surmanidze, a resident of the Keda village, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
