Residents of Armenian villages in shelling area refuse to leave their houses

There is no panic in the villages that were shelled by Azerbaijan; people stay in their houses, but the situation is still tense, the governor of the Tavush Region and leaders of the communities of Berd and Chinari have stated. The Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has treated the Azerbaijan's statement about the Armenian combat losses as disinformation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the total number of victims of July 12-13 shelling attacks on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border amounted to 13 people. Armenia reported shelling attacks on the village of Chinari in the Tavush Region by Azerbaijani militaries. In its turn, Azerbaijan claimed serious combat losses suffered by Armenia.

Azerbaijan is spreading disinformation about Armenia's combat losses, Shushan Stepanyan, the spokeswoman for the Armenian MoD has stated.

Artak Kirakosyan, the head of the Civil Society Institute, has noted that the proximity of the positions of the warring parties to dwelling settlements is causing concern. He has treated the escalation of border tensions as "unprecedented."

Ayk Khachikyan, an analyst for the "Razm.info" military website, believes that the actions of the parties on this border section are "unusual." According to his version, "since Azerbaijan has suffered losses, it will not easily come to terms with this; and the tense situation on the border will continue for some time."

Vlad Vardanyan, a military expert at the "Orbeli" Research Centre, has suggested that the armed clash could continue, which could result in a war declaration.
