Pashinyan claims need to extend state of emergency due to coronavirus

The situation with the coronavirus epidemic, despite some relative stability, remains tense; and there are no guarantees that it won't worsen, Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, said at a briefing on July 6, which was broadcast live on his Facebook page.

In his opinion, the epidemic cannot be taken under control due to massive violations of anti-epidemiological safety norms among the population. "The healthcare system is under heavy pressure. And if the situation escalates, and we fail providing all coronavirus patients with all they need, we'll have to introduce new restrictions that will jeopardize the country's economy," the Premier has stressed.

He has treated the extension of the state of emergency for another month as a forced measure. However, according to his story, the authorities cannot endlessly extend the state of emergency.
