Kadyrov scolds critics of his cadre policy

Ramzan Kadyrov has criticized those residents of Chechnya, who are dissatisfied with the fact that he appoints his close relatives to high republic's posts. He has labelled the opponents of such a cadre policy as "goats" and "shaitans".

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, spoke out about the appointment of his relatives to high republic's posts on March 2 at an expanded sitting of the Chechen government.

"They say that Kadyrov has placed all his relatives to high jobs ... There's clanism and nepotism in the Caucasus ... Explain what it is! I tell them: where's the definition, where are nepotism and clanism established? My teip is one of the largest in Chechnya; my wird is one of the largest teips; they are all my relatives. I have my kin. Yes, almost the entire Chechen people are mutual relatives. Shall I bring people from the Office of the Russian President and appoint them to posts here? Or should I appoint those whom I know and who'll surely work [in the post]?" Kadyrov stated in the Chechen language as translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Goats, shaitans! There are usually 3-4 people who are chatting. I'm not ashamed. If I'm responsible for my people, for my republic, if I cope with it – what's the difference who is the minister, the district head, the head of administration or chairman of the government?" he has stressed.

In Chechnya, almost the entire management system is affiliated with Ramzan Kadyrov and people close to him. According to the estimates run by the BBC Russian Service, in Chechnya, out of the 158 top-ranking officials, 30% are relatives of Ramzan Kadyrov, 23% are his fellow villagers, and other 12% are friends of the Chechen leader and their relatives.
