Ingush activists complain about custody conditions in Pyatigorsk SIZO

The six Ingush activists, whose cases are being considered in Zheleznovodsk, have declared unacceptable custody conditions in the SIZO (pre-trial prison) and transportation to the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 20, the defendant Adam Badiev announced "terrible" custody conditions in Pyatigorsk SIZO.

On March 26, residents of Ingushetia extended a protest action in a square in Magas without a sanction from the authorities, and that resulted in clashes with law enforcers on the other day. In early April, the Ingush police began to arrest oppositionists.

Badiev's words about inhuman conditions in Pyatigorsk became the sixth such statement made by the activists whose cases are considered in Zheleznovodsk.

Thus, on December 17, Timur Oziev told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent in the courtroom that his trip by train from Nalchik to Pyatigorsk lasted for a day and a half; and Oziev and three other defendants spent all this time without sleep and food. Oziev had a hypertensive crisis; he was also outraged by the demands of the SIZO staff to shave their beards.

A day later, on December 18, the defendant Magomed Ozdoev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the Pyatigorsk SIZO staff would not take the medications from relatives, which he needs in connection with his chronic liver and spinal diseases. On December 19, the advocate of the activist Djokhar Aliev said that his client complained about the absence of medical care in the SIZO – he suffers from attacks due to his neurological disease, but since his placement into the SIZO, no doctors had even examined him.

The advocates of the activists, who have complained about custody conditions in the Pyatigorsk SIZO, are drafting complaints and seek medical examination of their clients, who have health problems.
