Researchers of Caucasus assess damage to Chechnya's image after British blogger's public apology

Chechnya is not very popular among foreign tourists; and the story of the public apology of the British blogger, Benjamin, will push away those few travellers who had planned a trip to the republic, Caucasian researchers interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 8, a video appeared in the chp_chechenya Instagram community with apologies of a blogger from England, Benjamin, who had visited Chechnya. He brought a public apology for the phrase "Chechen chick."

The story of the apology of a tourist from England may scare off the travellers, who have planned a trip to the republic, Mikhail Roschin, a senior researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), is sure.

He has noted that Chechnya is not popular among foreign tourists. "And this is not connected with such stories. People just don't want and are afraid to go there; to say nothing about investments," Mr Roschin has stated.
