Georgian authorities reject accusations of violating demarcation line with South Ossetia

The new Georgian police post is located near the village of Chorchana; and the Georgian jurisdiction covers this territory, the State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia has declared. South Ossetia's statement is a tactical move in response to claims caused by the bordering, Mamuka Areshidze, a political analyst, believes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that border guard patrols were deployed in the vicinity of the South-Ossetian village of Tsnelis, near which the Georgian militaries had erected a checkpoint. Georgia has violated the border, the South-Ossetian Parliament has proclaimed.

"At the village of Perevi, the police post was removed because of the intricate terrain; it was difficult for the population to walk along. As a result of moving the post, the distance will become significantly smaller," Irakli Antadze, the deputy director of the SSS' Information and Analytical Department, said on air of the Georgian Channel One.

The South-Ossetian side has demanded to remove the checkpoint by the morning on August 30, threatening to take "legal measures" to ensure the safety of local residents.

Mr Antadze has treated the actions of South Ossetia in the territory of the Georgian village as "an attempt to create tension and artificial escalation."
