Muslims of Krasnodar tell about difficulties of celebrating Kurban Bayram

Because of the absence of a mosque in Krasnodar, Muslim believers cannot fully perform the sacrifice rite on Kurban Bayram and take part in the collective holiday namaz (prayer). The nearest mosque in the settlement of Yablonovsky, Adygea, cannot house everyone, Krasnodar Muslims have complained.

The mosque in Yablonovsky, Takhtamukai District of Adygea, is able to house 500 believers, while more than 3000 of them will gather for a prayer on the Kurban Bayram (Eid al-Adha) holiday, Anzor Djeukozhev, the Imam of the mosque, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Ali Khidirov, 43, a native of Ingushetia and now a resident of Krasnodar, said that his large family, which has seven children, believes that in such a multinational city, where there are many Orthodox churches, there should be a mosque.

The population of Krasnodar is growing every year, a lot of Muslims arrive, and the Yablonovsky mosque can't cope, said Ilyas Kayumov, a Muslim from Krasnodar.

In Krasnodar, Muslim women are virtually deprived of the opportunity to attend the mosque, Nonna Musaeva, a member of the Dagestani Diaspora in Krasnodar, has noted.

Victor Abbasov, a 77-year-old Muslim of Azerbaijani origin, believes that because of the absence of a mosque, Islamic youth is increasingly moving away from the religion.

Let us remind you that the deficit of room in mosque on holidays is a typical problem in Southern Russia. Thus, this year, in the Volgograd Region, at the celebration of Uraza Bayram (Eid al-Fitr), there was not enough room in local mosques for believers.
