IS* claims responsibility for attack on law enforcers in Grozny

Two law enforcers were injured in an attack on the police in the Leninsky District of Grozny, the police reported. The "Islamic State", a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, claimed that a local resident killed in a shootout was its militant.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 23, the attack on the police took place in the Leninsky District of Grozny, not far from the residence of the Chechen leader and the Grozny City complex.

After the attack on the law enforcers in Grozny, a policeman and a fighter from the National Guard of Russia were brought to the hospital, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learned today from an official of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to the police, the car driver, armed with a knife, attacked the policeman and stabbed Ramil Safiullin, a police inspector on duty in Aslanbek Sheripov Street, to his shoulder and neck. Zelimkhan Djabrailov, Sergeant of the Chechen Department of the National Guard of Russia, who was driving down the street in his car at that time, stopped and opened fire on the attacker from his service pistol, he said.

"Despite the fact that the attacker got severe wounds, he managed to make a return shot from a hunting rifle and after that he died," the policeman said.

The law enforcers were taken to the hospital, and "they stayed in severe, but stable condition," reported the MIA's official.

The "Islamic State"* claimed its involvement in the attack on the policeman and the fighter from the Chechen Department of the National Guard of Russia, reported on June 23 on Twitter the analytical service "SITE Intel Group" engaged in monitoring the activities of militants.
