On June 22, eight journalists were detained, while picketing in support of the journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev in Makhachkala. All the journalists were released after recording their personal data.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 22, Shamil Abashilov, a former editor-in-chief of the "Youth of Dagestan" newspaper, began series of solo pickets, announced by Dagestani journalists, demanding Gadjiev's liberation; Abashilov was detained.

On June 14, 2019, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly, was detained within the case of financing terrorism. Gadjiev stated falsification of the case. Dagestani journalists hold actions demanding the release their colleague.

After his detention, other journalists, who were at the picket venue, went to the police station intending to continue their series of solo pickets there.

During the first such solo picket, held by Arsen Magomedov at the police station, policemen of the OMVD (District Interior Division) of the Sovietsky District invited all the journalists, including the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, for a "conversation"; and after recording their personal data, they all were released.

After that, the journalists continued their solo pickets near the Republic's Prosecutor's Office.
