Kantemir Balagov receives second award in Cannes

On May 25, at the Cannes Film Festival, the International Federation of Film Critics awarded another prize to Kantemir Balagov, a filmmaker from Kabardino-Balkaria for his film "Dylda" (Beanpole); earlier Balagov was also awarded as the best film director.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 17, the film "Dylda" by Kantemir Balagov was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in the contest programme "Special Look" (Un Certain Regard) and nominated for an award named "Queer Palm" for selected LGBT-relevant films.

The parallel awards were given on May 25 at the closing ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival. The work by Kantemir Balagov was marked by the International Federation of Film Critics FIPRESCI, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

This is the second FIPRESCI award, received by Balagov – in 2017, he received the same award at the Cannes Film Festival for his film "Tesnota" (Congestion), the TASS reports, citing the filmmaker's words that his next film will be about Northern Caucasus.
