Chechens criticize Daudov's statement on blood feud against Abdurakhmanov

On March 9, Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, declared Tumso Abdurakhmanov a blood enemy because of his statement about Akhmat Kadyrov, but noted his declaration was not a threat of murder. Announcement of blood feud for an insult does not comply with traditions, residents of Chechnya believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that an online dispute between Djambulat Umarov, Minister for National Policy of Chechnya, and blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov about the Akhmat Kadyrov's calls for jihad forced Ramzan Kadyrov to explain and interpret the statements of his father. Then Djambulat Umarov refused to continue the discussion with Tumso Abdurakhmanov, and Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, entered into a debate with the blogger.

On March 9, the video entitled "The Lord's Appeal to Tumso" was posted on the "Vainah Intervision" channel on YouTube. In the video, Magomed Daudov declared blood feud against Tumso Abdurakhmanov because of his statements about Akhmat Kadyrov.

Magomed Daudov has noted that he did not intend to kill the blogger. "We are not going to kill you. We will surprise you," the speaker of the Chechen parliament told Tumso Abdurakhmanov.

As of 12:45 a.m. Moscow time, 198 comments, most of them in Chechen language, were posted under the video appeal recorded by the speaker of the Chechen parliament. Authors of some comments expressed their support for Tumso Abdurakhmanov, while others called on the authorities and the blogger to reconcile, and some supported Magomed Daudov, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.

Meanwhile, some users found the Magomed Daudov's statement imprudent. "It seems to me, Mohammed, in vain you made the appeal in such a way, he waited for such threats ... Starting from today, if something happens to him, everyone will see it as an attempt, even if you are not involved in it," in particular, user Turko Nokhcho, addressed Magomed Daudov.

Announcement of blood feud for an insult does not meet the norms of Islam or the Chechen adats, theologian Isa states. "It's totally inappropriate to talk about blood feud here. According to Islam and to our customs, blood feud cannot be announced for an insult. Yes, you can call for an answer, but this is not blood feud," the theologian told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
