Georgian CEC reports 307 complaints about violations during presidential election

There have been requests to cancel the results of voting in the second round of the presidential election at five polling stations, reports the spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia. She has promised to consider all complaints. Among the violations committed on the voting day, Georgian NGOs mentioned threats and bribing of voters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, the Georgian CEC has summed up the voting results at all polling stations, following which Salome Zurabishvili gained 59.52% of the votes, and Grigol Vashadze  40.48% of the votes.

On November 28, Georgian residents voted in the second round of the presidential election. The opposition claimed large-scale violations, including bribing of voters.

"According to the assessment made by the 'Association of Young Lawyers of Georgia', the voting was mainly held in a peaceful atmosphere, but the facts of alleged fraud, bribing of voters and threats were registered," the organization reports.

According to its information, 78 complaints were made, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.

Observers from the NGO "International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy" filed 53 complaints to the precinct election commissions, and 76  to the district election commissions.

On November 29, the opposition alliance "Strength in Unity" will hold a meeting with supporters at which it will announce further plans, presidential candidate Grigol Vashadze has announced.
