Conor McGregor's statement about Ramzan Kadyrov provokes criticism in Chechnya

The statement voiced by Conor McGregor, who called Ramzan Kadyrov a dictator, does not hurt the leader of Chechnya, stated the Chechen Press Minister.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in late August, Dagestani fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov and Irish athlete Conor McGregor entered into a dispute before the forthcoming battle. McGregor called Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, a father and a coach of his opponent, a coward. On September 20, at a press conference in New York, Conor McGregor explained his criticism of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov by the praise for the leader of Chechnya. According to the Irish athlete, in fact, the father of his rival from Dagestan is afraid of Ramzan Kadyrov, whom Conor McGregor called "a dictator."

Even with his achievements in the UFC, Conor McGregor is "an outrageous clown who imagines himself an unrivaled showman," said Djambulat Umarov, Minister for National Policy, Foreign Relations, Press and Information of Chechnya.

According to the Minister, the Conor McGregor's statement "is in no way able to offend the honour and dignity" of the Chechen leader.

On September 22, on his page in Instagram, Khusein Khaliev, the WFCA (World Fighting Championship Akhmat) champion in lightweight, posted a video message addressed to Conor McGregor.

"When it comes to Chechnya or the Caucasus, you had to think about what you might voice and what you might not talk about. You will have to answer for your statement at arena or outside it, since we never forgive hurting honour of a family or a person. So, you should better repent and apologize as soon as possible," Khusein Khaliev recommended the Irish fighter.
