Political analysts argue about tension in pre-election campaign in Yerevan

In Yerevan, no mass bribing of voters will take place in the course of the elections to the Council of Elders, Armenian political analysts believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 16, the Armenian authorities dissolved the Council of Elders of Yerevan after the election of the Yerevan Mayor failed in July. The extraordinary elections to the Council of Elders are scheduled for September 23.

The Armenian political analysts note that the Nikol Pashinyan's bloc "My Step", as well as the "Prosperous Armenia" Party and the "Luys" bloc, have high chances to win the elections to the Council of Elders in Yerevan. The political analysts do not rule out that the "Apricot Country" Party and the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" will also gain seats in the parliament.

The pre-election campaign of the political forces was weak in terms of content, and candidates basically promised to solve such everyday problems as garbage collection, lift repair, and transportation, political technologist Armen Badalyan stated.

According to him, the pre-election campaign was not meaningful and resembled the elections of the early 1990s.

Armen Badalyan predicts rather low turnout of voters, despite the relative increase in people's confidence in the institution of elections.

The pre-election campaign was quite acute, and all the main political forces positioned themselves as opposition to the Nikol Pashinyan's bloc "My Step", stated political analyst Grant Mikaelyan.

The bloc "My Step" includes the "Civil Contract" Party led by Nikol Pashinyan, the "Arakelutyun" (Mission) Party, and a number of non-partisan public figures.
