Equestrian procession route changed after conflict in Kendelen in Kabardino-Balkaria

In Kabardino-Balkaria, activists who climbed Mount Kanzhal in honour of the 310th anniversary of the battle in those places decided to change their route to avoid new clashes with villagers. The village of Kendelen remains blocked by law enforcers.

On September 18, residents of Kendelen refused to let the participants of the equestrian procession ride through the village. There were clashes, in the course of which several villagers got injuries. Law enforcers tried to take the participants of the procession out of the village, but they refused.

The report about the conflict came to the "Caucasian Knot" SMS-service. The participants of the procession were chanting slogans that "provoked the local people."

The tension in the vicinity of the Kendelen village remains.

The horsemen return round the Kendelen village by the same route which they chose to climb Mount Kanzhal, the local residents reported.

Let us remind you that in 2008, residents of Kendelen, populated by Balkars, also refused to let through the village the participants of the equestrian procession arranged in honour of the 300th anniversary of the Kabarda's victory in the Kanzhali battle. Then the confrontation lasted two days.
