Rallies and marches in honour of the 30th anniversary of liberation movement held in NKR cities

The events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the start of the liberation movement began in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).

On February 12, residents of Martuni and Gadrut went out to central squares of their cities with posters and banners, bearing the same slogans as at the start of the NKR's liberation movement: "Karabakh is in tears – Moscow is silent", "We stand for reunification of NKR with Armenia", "Our strength is in unity" and "Let's return our Karabakh", the NKR's public television reports.

Participants of the actions were chanting, like 30 years ago: "Miatsum", which means "Reunion".

The main events, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the start of the NKR's national liberation movement will be held on February 20, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the State Commission for the organization and coordination of anniversary events.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) was proclaimed on September 2, 1991, and on January 6, 1992, following the referendum on the NKR's status, when 99.89% of the electorate voted for the NKR's independence, declared itself an independent state. Azerbaijan does not recognize the NKR's independence, considering it as a part of its territory. The NKR's international status has not been settled.
