"Kunaki" Festival treats film about Ingushetia as a day favourite among films on Caucasus

On the penultimate day of the 11th North-Caucasian Open Film and TV Festival "Kunaki", nine films were screened, including four films dedicated to the Caucasus. The film about Ingushetia "A Man Needs a Tower for Life" directed by Georgy Sushko was called a favourite of the day.

The Ingush people call themselves the Galgai people, and that can be translated as "builders of towers." From times immemorial, the Ingush people built towers, many of which still stand in the mountains of the republic, reports the republic's official website.

The film describes towers woven into the lives of people. The author uses the towers as a thread connecting generations and nations.

Georgy Sushko, the director of the film "A Man Needs a Tower for Life", thanked the Ingush Ministry of Culture for help in filming. Meanwhile, he has admitted that the Minister of Culture did not like his work.

The film director hit the right path when he decided not to "smooth" his idea, believes Sulieta Kusova-Chukho, the president of the film festival.

"Caucasian people have strong feelings on films about themselves. The film director himself sees what the local people do not notice," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Ilyas Bogatyryov, the director of the film festival.

According to viewers, the film turned out to be interesting.

The film "The Bridal Veil", another work created by Moscow director Andrei Katkov, describes a story about the life of a modern woman in Karachay-Cherkessia, who continues to live in harmony with traditions.
