The grouping "Katiba al-Imam Shamil", linked with the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, banned in Russia by the court, has claimed responsibility for the April 3 terror act in the metro of Saint Petersburg.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the explosion in the metro on April 3, which was recognized as a terror act, killed 16 people, including the suicide bomber, and injured 102 others.

The information that the grouping "Katiba al-Imam Shamil" (Imam Shamil's Battalion) has claimed responsibility for the terror act in Saint Petersburg, was published by the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors the online activities of radical organizations.

According to the SITE Intelligence Group, the act was committed by Akbarjon Jalilov, who received a direct order from Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of the Al-Qaeda (a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot").

As reported today by the website of the SITE Intelligence Group, the "Katiba al-Imam Shamil" grouping has demanded withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria and threatened to commit new terror acts.
