"Radio Liberty" reports about secret gay prison in Chechen village of Tsotsi-Yurt

In Chechnya, homosexuals are kept in at least two secret prisons after being detained, the "Radio Liberty" reports with reference to its sources.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that on April 1, the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" reported about mass detentions in Chechnya of men suspected of unconventional sexual orientation. Later, the newspaper has reported with reference to gays persecuted in Chechnya that in Argun, a "secret prison" was organized for people with unconventional sexual orientation.

In Chechnya, there is another "secret prison" for gays in the village of Tsotsi-Yurt, the "Radio Liberty" reported in its material of April 8 with reference to a source among Chechen homosexuals. According to the source, the detentions of gays were organized by leaders of the district police departments, and those raids began not in this February, as newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" reported, but yet in December 2016.

According to a source, law enforcers acted according to the scheme of the so-called "substitutions": they were acquainted with homosexuals, lured them to a date, where they humiliated and beat them, taking pictures of what was happening on the video. After that, they demanded "money for silence" from gays. And in early March, several gays were killed. Presumably, some policemen could beat a gay to death "accidentally." However, "sometimes they voiced a condition to relatives that they would release a detained gay if his relatives kill him by themselves," the source reported.
