Khachim Anatolievich Zheligashtov

In 2015, Khachim Zheligashtov, a public figure from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), helped repatriates from Syria and low-income families in the KBR. He organized several charity actions.

He was nominated for the “Hero of the Caucasus-2015” contest of the “Caucasian Knot” for achieving particular results in helping people.

Activities in 2015

Since 2015, Mr Zheligashtov has been heading the public organization "Circassian Renaissance".

In March-April 2015, Khachim Zheligashtov initiated the "Comfortable Home" campaign, within which he gathered and distributed furniture for Circassian repatriates.

In May 2015, he conducted a charity fundraising campaign for the commemoration of the victims of the Caucasian War.

In August 2015, Mr Zheligashtov, the author of the idea and the group "Circassian Renaissance" (active in social networks "VKontakte" and "Facebook"), conducted, together with the members of his group, a charity campaign "Prepare a Circassian for School", which was held within the contest "Read, Circassian". This contest was organized in order to promote reading among Adyg (Circassian) young people. Within the campaign, they managed to raise funds for the purchase of bags and school supplies for seven children from needy families.

In September-November 2015, Mr Zheligashtov was raising help for repatriates from Syria by means of social networks.

In October 2015, he took part in the charity action "Mutual Aid" in the village of Psykhurei, within which a help was provided in repairing a house of the family of Syrian repatriates.

In November 2015, he conducted the contest "Instructions for Elders", and organized a transfer of help in the form of foodstuffs to boarding school graduates and elderly at the boarding house in Nalchik.

In December 2015, he was engaged in fundraising for the purchase of warm footwear for needy repatriates and local Adygs.

Also in 2015, Khachim Zheligashtov held a charity action "Comfortable Housing", within which he made free repairs for two low-income families.

On January 16, 2016, Mr Zheligashtov and other activists of the "Zhyegu", an organization to facilitate the return of compatriots, signed a letter to the head of the KBR, asking to protect Circassian repatriates from Turkey from deportation.

Biography

Khachim Zheligashtov was born on January 2, 1987, in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkaria.

In 2010, he graduated from the Chemical Department of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University in Nalchik with the diplomas of "Electrochemist" and "Higher School Teacher".

In 2011-2012, he lived in Saint Petersburg, where he was engaged in entrepreneurship.

In 2012, he became the winner of the youth school of entrepreneurship in Nalchik.

In 2014, he won a grant at the Ministry of Economy for the development of a construction company.

Public activities

In 2010, Khachim Zheligashtov joined the organization "Kind Hearts", and began his active involvement in public activities.

He also became a member and, together with Asker Bora and Olga Begret, a co-founder of the public organization "Zhyegu" (Hearth).

He participated in charity actions and roundtables, and held charitable campaigns aimed to help rural boarding houses and the Baby House in Nalchik.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya

    At least 80 residents of Chechnya have been kidnapped after a car with a DUSTUM license plate was set on fire; volunteers have identified the names of a number of them.
