Nationalists confess of attacking "Caucasian Knot" correspondent

Doctors have examined Vladislav Ryazantsev, the attacked "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, and diagnosed a wrist fracture and confirmed a closed craniocerebral injury. A nationalist Roman Zheleznov has stated that "Russian national socialists had committed the attack."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ryazantsev was beaten up on January 10 in the centre of Rostov-on-Don by five men.

The journalist did not rule out that the attack could be linked to his oppositional activities – earlier, he was the coordinator of the coalition "Left-Wing Block" in Rostov-on-Don.

He also noted that he received threats after his publications on the "Caucasian Knot".

Roman Zheleznov wrote on his page in the social network "VKontakte" that Ryazantsev "was exposed to some teaching in view of its active public activities; in the opinion of Russian National Socialists, these activities are malicious."

According to the RBC (RosBusinessConsulting), which referred to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), in 2014 Zheleznov took part in the armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine as a member of the "Azov" battalion. He was put on the international wanted list.

According to investigators, he is hiding in Ukraine, the "Izvestia" writes.
