Four policemen suffered in clashes with activists in Yerevan

A clash of policemen with activists broke out, when the latter tried to enter the territory of the police regiment in Yerevan, captured by oppositionists. Four policemen were hospitalized, said an MP Nikol Pashinyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on July 17 supporters of the "Constituent Parliament" captured the building of the police regiment of the patrol-and-guard service in Yerevan, demanding the release all the country's political prisoners. During the capture, a policeman was killed; and six other people were wounded. Negotiations with the capturers continue for the third day. Today, activists, supporting the "Constituent Parliament", have gathered in Freedom Square and Khorenatsi Street; some of them have barricaded in Christopher Street.

The activists, who gathered in the area of the captured building, were approached by Nikol Pashinyan, an opposition MP of the National Assembly, the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" reports from the venue.

According to his story, a group of people tried to break through to the occupied building from the Sari Tag District; and when the police blocked their way, they began throwing stones at policemen. As a result, four police officers were hospitalized, said the MP.
