Doping test of Chechen weightlifter Aukhadov was positive

The Russian weightlifting national team may be disqualified for a year because of a positive doping test of the weightlifter Apti Aukhadov.

According to Alexandra Brilliantova, the head of legal department of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Diamond, at the request of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the ROC has received from the Weightlifting Federation of Russia (WFR) a signed consent to study sample B of the doping test of Apti Aukhadov.

"Our representatives were present at its opening and analysis. Unfortunately, it confirmed the positive result of sample A," the TASS quotes today Ms Brilliantova as saying.

On June 22, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) said that the WFR is facing a one-year disqualification if another (the third one) test from the Olympic Games of 2006 and 2012 proves to be positive after a repeated analysis. Earlier, samples B of female-weightlifters Nadezhda Evstyukhina and Marina Shainova were positive, the IWF website reports.
