The Don Army area

Administrative and territorial unit in Russian empire, occupied by the Don cossacks and operated on special status. The official name since 1786 - the land of the Don Army, in 1870-1920 - area of the Don Army. Administrative centre - city of Cherkassk, since 1806 - Novocherkassk. In 1920 it was abolished, the most part of the territory joined the Don area, in 1924 - the North Caucasian territory.
