Residents of Chechnya complain about growth of expenses for celebrating Eid al-Adha

Muslims of Chechnya began the celebration of the holiday of Eid al-Adha with collective prayers (Eid-namaz) in mosques. During the holiday, they perform the ritual of sacrifice, visit graves of their relatives, and meet their family members and friends.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the days of September 24 and 25 were declared non-working days in the Chechen Republic on the occasion of the holiday of Eid al-Adha.

Eid al-Adha is the Feast of the Sacrifice, which is celebrated 70 days after the holiday of Eid al-Fitr and which falls on the 10th day of the holy month of Dhu al-Hijjah. The feast is celebrated during three days and marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca.

Today, all the mosques of the Chechen Republic performed the collective Eid-namaz (prayers), and the mosque-goers initiated the main ritual of Eid al-Adha the sacrifice for themselves and members of their families. This was reported by the spokesman for the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya.

Besides, during the celebration of Eid al-Adha, Muslims visit the graves of their relatives and meet their family members and friends. According to Umar, Imam of one of the Chechen mosques, on these days, Muslims are to bring gifts to each other and to be engaged in good deeds.

This year, residents of Chechnya note the slight growth in the expenses for the ritual of sacrifice.
