Federation Council approves creation of gambling zone in Sochi

The Federation Council – the upper chamber of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation – has approved the bill to create a new gambling zone in the city of Sochi. According to the document, gambling activities can be undertaken in the Olympic facilities, built not by the budget money.

As reported by the RBC, the senators have approved the amendments to Article 9 of the Law "On state regulation of organization and holding gambling, and on amending certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the bill authorizing gambling in Sochi was approved on July 4 in the final reading by the State Duma of the Russian Federation – the lower chamber of the Russian Parliament.

The border of the gambling zone will be defined by the Government of the Russian Federation on the basis of the proposals moved by the government of the Krasnodar Territory, the "Interfax" has added.

Currently, Russia has four gambling zones, one of which is the "Azov-City", also located in the Krasnodar Territory. In connection with creation of a new gaming zone in Sochi, the "Azov-City" may be closed, Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Prime Minister, said on July 8.
