Zverevo

Town in Rostov oblast (province), oblast subordination, 21 km east of Gukovo, 140 km north-east of Rostov-on-Don. Located in the eastern end of the Donets Ridge. Railway station in the Millerovo - Rostov-on-Don line, 10 km of the Moscow - Rostov-on-Don highway. Population (1992 est.) 30.9 thousand, (1979 est.) 26.3 thousand.

Developed from a miner's settlement, which arose at the beginning of the 20th century. Industrial community since 1929. Town since 1989. Centre of mineral coal production in the Eastern Donets Basin.
