In February, 65 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

At least 65 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in February 2013; of them, 37 persons perished, and 28 more were wounded. These are the results of the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The above statistics is unable to reflect, with a 100-percent precision, the number of victims. Not all the data gets into news reports. It is not always possible to check the truthfulness of the statements made by law-enforcement bodies.

The leader by the number of victims was Dagestan. During February, 43 persons suffered there, including 31 killed persons, and 12 wounded ones. In the course of special operations against members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), and as a result of attacks and diversion-terror acts, eight persons perished, and nine power agents received wounds of various gravity.

In the course of armed clashes and special operations, 20 suspects of involvement in the armed underground became casualties, one more person was wounded. As a result of attacks of unidentified persons and diversion-terror acts, three civilians perished, and two more were wounded.

In Ingushetia, in February, 18 persons fell victim to the conflict, including five perished persons and 13 wounded ones. As a result of attacks of unidentified persons, and in the course of the operations aimed to detain suspects of involvement in IAFs, one law enforcer was killed, and another one was wounded. As a result of armed clashes and special operations, four suspected IAF members were killed, and two more were wounded. As a result of attacks, mine explosions and a diversion-terror act, 10 civilians were wounded.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, two persons suffered - one was killed and one more wounded. As a result of an attack of unidentified persons, one policeman perished, another one was wounded.

In Chechnya, two persons suffered - as a result of mine explosion, when gathering metal scrap, two civilians were wounded.

In February, in Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia and Stavropol Territory there were no victims of the armed conflict.
