199 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in the first quarter of 2013

In January-March 2013, at least 199 people suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; of them 124 people were killed, and at least 75 more were wounded. These are the results of the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll of 124 personsincludes 82 ones involved, according to law enforcement bodies, in the activities of illegal armed formations (IAFs), 21 law enforcers and 21 civilians. The 75 wounded persons include 45 law enforcers, 25 civilians and five alleged IAF members.

In the reporting period, Dagestan was the leader by the number of victims. In the period from January 1 to March 31, 2013, at least 108 people fell victim to the armed conflict in the republic; of them, 67 people were killed and 41 more were wounded.

Chechnya is the runner-up by the count of victims – at least 37 people suffered here; of them 20 people were killed and 17 were wounded.

The third place belongs to Ingushetia with at least 26 victims in January, February, and March; of them, 13 were killed and 13 were wounded.

Kabardino-Balkaria, where at least 22 people suffered in the armed conflict, including 20 killed persons and two wounded ones, took the fourth place.

In the territory of Karachay-Cherkessia, in January, February and March of 2013, at least six people were affected by the armed conflict, including four killed and two wounded persons.

In January, February and March of 2013, there were no victims of the armed conflict in the territory of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania; there were also no victims in the Stavropol Territory.
