Tbilisi center was paralyzed by Georgian opposition protest

A protest action by the Georgian opposition practically paralyzed Tbilisi's central artery, Rustaveli Avenue, on Tuesday night.

Nearly 10,000 opposition supporters took to streets to protest the November 2 parliamentary elections, the results of which they believe were falsified by the government.

The opposition moved to the Central Elections Commission building. The building was surrounded by policemen carrying shields and batons. Nearly 15 trucks carrying military personnel were placed in the streets connecting to Rustaveli Avenue.

More opposition representatives congregated on Svoboda Square near the Tbilisi mayor's office, planning to join with their allies in other parts of Tbilisi.
