1261 people became victims of armed confrontations in Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia

In 2010 the most severe armed confrontations of the strongmen and extremist underground in Northern Caucasus became apparent in the territory of three republics: Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan. No less than 639 people were lost in these confrontations and at least 622 persons got wounded.

This is the result of calculation by "Caucasian Knot" done on the basis of its own materials and information from open sources.

At least 313 cases of skirmishes, special operations and armed confrontations have been registered in Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan. These also include 32 cases when the authorities announced counter-terrorist operations.

The activities of extremist underground was manifested by 192 cases of explosions and acts of terror, 19 of them were organized by suicide bombers and self-explosions of participants of illegal paramilitary groups. There were 80 more cases when the authorities reported prevention of terror acts and explosions.

Calculation of "Caucasian Knot" indicates to a loss of al least 199 officers of law enforcement bodies, 426 people have been wounded. According to official data, in 2010, 319 gunmen were killed and 234 more are listed among the detained.

Significant losses have been registered among local residents: no less than 121 dead and 196 wounded. Besides, there have been 52 cases of kidnapping or illegal detentions by unknown members of the top brass. We also know that only 16 persons out of these people returned home.

It should be also mentioned that in 2010 no less than 178 persons perished as a result of 238 explosions and terror acts in Northern Caucasus and Moscow. Besides, minimum 895 persons got wounding and traumas.

Special attention should be paid the fact that 24 cases with participation of suicide bombers and self-explosions took place in Moscow and Northern Caucasus.
