At least 178 persons perished in explosions and terror acts committed in Northern Caucasus and Moscow

The loss of 178 people and injuries obtained by at least 895 persons more in 238 explosions and terror acts committed in 2010 in the territory of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) and in Moscow are most tragic outcomes of the glowing Northern Caucasus conflict.

The calculations of the "Caucasian Knot", based on information of own correspondents and data from open sources, also evidence about 24 terror acts committed by suicide bombers and self-explosions in Moscow and in the Caucasus.

The Republic of Dagestan has become an absolute leader by the number of committed terror acts and lost lives. In 2010, at least 112 explosions and terror acts were committed here. These events resulted in at least 68 deaths, 37 were peaceful residents. The number of those wounded in these incidents amounted to at least 195 persons, including 65 civilians. Five terror acts in Dagestan were committed by suicide bombers.

37 explosions and terror acts in the territory of Chechnya resulted in loss of 23 persons, one of them was a peaceful citizen. 37 persons more, including 14 civilians, were wounded. The number of explosions committed by suicide bombers, as well as self-explosions, was 12, according to the estimates of the "Caucasian Knot".

In 2010, a large number of terror act casualties were registered in North Ossetia. The territory of the republic saw three explosions and terror acts, which resulted in 22 deaths; 19 of the casualties were civilians. In these incidents at least 163 persons were injured. Two terror acts were committed by suicide bombers.

In Ingushetia in 2010 there were at least 40 explosions and terror acts, which killed a total of 8 persons, including 4 civilians, and wounded 78 persons, half of them – 39 persons – were civilians. Two explosions were committed by suicide bombers.

The year 2010 in Kabardino-Balkaria was marked by at least 41 explosions and terror acts. They resulted in the death of 4 persons, including one who had no relation to law enforcement bodies or the armed underground, and wounds received by at least 53 persons; 37 of them were civilians.

Among the incidents that occurred in the territory of Kabardino-Balkaria, one explosion is attributed to a suicide bomber.

Three explosions and terror acts committed in 2010 in the Stavropol Territory took away the lives of eight civilians; at least 79 persons more suffered.
Let us note here also that in Moscow in 2010 two terror acts were committed, which had direct relation to the situation in Northern Caucasus.
